Hot Pink and Lots of Color

I am sure you would not think of me and HOT PINK.
Color, yeah some here and there for as long as I can stand it.

No, this is my little girl's room.
I found an awesome hot pink chandelier.

3 Light Mini Chandelier Color: Hot Pink
found here.

and

Packed with color rug.

4' x 6' Fiesta Shag Rug
found here.

We plan to glue lots and lots of butterflies on the wall.

I was lucky in my visit to my favorite SALLY and found a vintage chair to reupholster with some pretty vibrant fabric.

This weekend I am putting the final coat of paint on the wall.
My daughter is super excited to be able to move back into her room next week.
Just in time to have 9 silly, screaming girls over for a slumber party.

I was lucky that my mom let me choose how I wanted my room to be,
even if she did not like the color choice.
So, do you let your kids pick out their room colors or do you choose what they will have.

Dream Closet

As we get closer to working on the master bedroom, I begin to dream again.

What kind of closet storage would I like?
What are my needs?
What would Mr. M. need?

We were able to design our new master bedroom with his and her closets.
We have them currently and it has done wonders for our marriage.
You would think I am the neat and tidy one.
NO!
Mr. M. is, but, in my defense, I am the one who has to hide all the gifts for holidays and birthdays.

A major addition I would like to put in Mr. M.'s closet is a murphy bed.
Oh, I am not kidding!
You see I snore, and snore, and snore.
Seeing as I have no room for it in my closet....too many clothes.
It makes more sense to put in his.
Don't feel sorry for him, it is heated.

I found a great closet design on line Easy Closets.
So simple to put in your own dimensions and start dreaming.

I went on their site and designed my closet in all white.
One whole wall is just for hanging shirts and pants.
The opposite side is for more shirts and dresses.
The back wall is for shoes and drawers.

Here are some examples I found on line.

Of course my closet would be white and his would be wood.

No more wrinkled shirts.
All shoes would have a spot.
Hooks for purses.
Drawers for socks and such.
Even some drawers for jewelry.

Ah, a girl can dream can't she?

Speaking of dreaming.
Have you seen this closet?

white built-in master closet

Amazing isn't it!

This closet was designed and built by Sandra from Sawdust and Paper Scraps make sure to stop over.

I would love to have her design build, who am I kidding.

If you have not visited Sandra before, you should, she can build just about anything.
AND, she has been helping other women build too.

I'm off to paint my floor.
Nope, not done yet.

New Found Treasures on my Day Off

I was finally able to visit my favorite Salvation Army this week on my day off.
Sally didn't disappoint me.

I was looking for a small settee for my daughter's room but I found this great chair instead.
It is really short, perfect for a little girl to curl up with her kitty and a book.
It is perfect for upholstering.
I am even thinking of painting the wood in HOT PINK.
The fabric I am thinking of is actually a quilted throw I found at HomeGoods.
I will have to wait to make final fabric choices after the rug arrives next week.

My what lovely legs you have.

A girl can never have enough ironstone!

A crown fit for a princess.

A great old typewriter that is HEAVY.
I think it will go in my office until I find the perfect spot for it.

Thanks Sally, I had a wonderful day!

Painted Rug Progress

I bought the paint and brushes.
I traced the design on the floor.
I tested some colors.

Thank goodness my daughter started helping me trace some of this.
I was starting to think it would never end.
Oh yeah, I still have to paint it ALL!!!
What was I thinking?

I am using lots of bright fun colors.
This is the hallway that leads to the bedrooms and one place to be more colorful with design.

You may have noticed there are lots of details in the design.
I am hoping I can make it look as good on the floor as it does in my head.

You don't know how many times I called to my husband to see if I should continue or not.
Was I crazy to do this...yes.
It took me several days to get the design traced on the floor.
Let me tell you, you can only sit on a hard wood floor doing this before your butt and hand start hurting.

Mr. M. kept saying "looks great, keep going, you can't stop now."
Mmmmm.....this was all said from the comfort of the living room chair....downstairs.
I am going to finish it.
And guess what?
If I don't like it.....yep, just paint over it and pick another design.
I love paint!

Now, if only I could remember where I put those paint brushes.

Happy weekend.

A Productive Busy Week

We have been on Spring break.
School and work both start again on Monday.
Although it has only been a week, it feels like a month.

Do you know how to make time seem like it is never going to end.
Spend it with children.
They enjoy each and every second.

Our busy week was packed with;
 A little Princess turning 9.

The guy.  So now her brothers can play too!

Someone was super surprised with her birthday presents.

Easter.

Work on staining and polyurethaning floors.
Shopping trips.
Bike rides.
Jack vs. the Giants movie.
Movie night.
Splash Lagoon.........

Shopping trip in Pittsburgh...IKEA!!!!
Lunches and dinners out every day for the last three days.

So, what am I doing today, my last day of vacation.

Starting the finishing touches on a little girls room.

The floors turned out great.
Although, I do think I like the dark stain better.
We decided to leave these floors plain.
It makes it easier if in the future we want to add color to a teenager's room.

We only have to put the trim back on.
Paint the walls the same soft lavender.
Paint all floor, ceiling and window trim.
Hang the new chandelier.
Find a rug.
Put furniture back in.

But first, I am painting the rug in the hallway so we can finish the upstairs hallway.

With these colors.

And finishing up the dinning room chairs.

I was able to get them all painted in between activities.
Now I only have two to stain and wax.....then slipcovers.

After I have my special breakfast.
This guy knows how to make his family feel special.
We each had our own pancake.

These should give me enough energy to do some tracing and painting.

How about you?
Did you take a Spring Break with your kids?
Did you go anywhere special or finish any projects?
