A Day at the Great Pumpkin Farm

The family spent the WHOLE day at The Great Pumpkin Farm and we had lots of fun.  We have been coming here since my oldest son was only 3 months old and the kids look forward to it every year.

The signs around this place are amazing.

  

There was so much to do too! 

The kids had their faces or hands painted.

Wagon rides through the fields while they shot pumpkins out of cannons over your head. 

Went through a mild Haunted House maze, the kids held a firm grip on our hands.

A magic show and a jugling act.

Pumpkin decorating contest, craft events, scarecrow decorating, pumpkin carving, petting zoo,             corn mazes, carnival rides and that is just a few more things we could have done. 

There are new events going on until Halloween weekend.

Who could say NO to FREE pumpkin pie?

This is my son Chase's proud moment. 

He came in THIRD place.

All of these fun events I mentioned were FREE today. 

BUT, there was so much more! 

FOOD!

Don't you just love it, a chandelier at a BBQ cook off!

Wicked Grillers, she said they are from New Jersey and her next stop is Florida. 

I just love the attention to details.

Now these guys have won some awards for their BBQ and they mean business.

Beside the BBQ cook off, there was your typical fair food, hot dogs, fries and lots of sweets.

One of our favorite foods to get are the pumpkin cookies and some hot apple cider, YUM!  They have fresh baked goods that are sold in the on site bakery. 

 There is so much good food to be eatten.

  

Someone got my first bite.

Maybe it was him, he seemed to have a sinister look about him. 

 The insides of the buildings were full of vintage decorations.

 

Did I mention you could buy pumpkins?

There were plenty to choose from.

The HUGE barn is also filled with Halloween decorations, from bats to witches, they seemed to have everything needed to set up your own haunted house.

I must say I was surprised that Mr. M. was agreeable to stay for the whole day. 

 I think it had to do with the kids not arguing and fun for the whole family.

Now I am off to do some decorating, I came home with lots of spooky ideas.

Vintage Inspiration Friday

I bought a new Halloween magazine last week to get some new holiday decorating ideas and I came across this page.  If you like Halloween or love to look at inspiring display work, then you have to see Debbie Dusenbury's blog Curious Sofa  or check out her pictures in the magazine here .

You see I have a vintage baby buggy in my garage that had been waiting, waiting for me to decide the best way to display it in my home.  Oh and that tree with the crows, it is taking everything in me to hold back and not do that on one of my walls, because if you know me well.

You know I would PAINT it on the wall. 

That would NOT make Mr. M. happy, and we must keep him happy!

So, I will just have to work with the buggy idea for now.

  I originally bought this buggy to use in my gardens as my mother had once done,

but I changed my mind, I did not want it to get ruined, I like it too much.

I love the white chippiness of it.


Look at this wheel, just perfect.

I am using my wicker buggy as a display on my back deck.

Of course I added a few white pumpkins, an old door, and a few odd things I found around the house, and of course some black for fall.

Once we are closer to Halloween I will replace the flowers with a skeleton or two.

A simple wreath I made for fall last year.
How do you like the door the wreath is hanging from, it was originally intended to use as a shop display, but now I think I may have a mirror put in and prop it up against a wall in my bed room. 

Not a handle for the door, it is a door knocker. 

Details, it is all in the details.

Inspiration can be found anywhere, from anything, a color, a shape, a sound, a touch.

Me, I have found many inspirations in the beautiful pages of several different magazines.

Much to Mr. M.'s chagrin I still have most of them, in the basement.

I hate to admit it but that is only half of them.  They do not just take up room, I do periodically go through and read them, when I am in need of inspiration.

Fall Beauty

Saturday was a day of walking.

  My extended family met for a picnic and the day at Letchworth State Park in New York. 

It has been 11 years since we have been back, I forgot how wonderful it is.

  The only thing that would make this even more beautiful would be if more of the leaves had changed colors already.  This picture would be awash of oranges, reds, yellows, browns and greens. 

Letchworth State Park, renowned as the "Grand Canyon of the East," is one of the most scenically magnificent areas in the eastern U.S. The Genesee River roars through the gorge over three major waterfalls between cliffs--as high as 600 feet in some places--surrounded by lush forests.

 Hikers can choose among 66 miles of hiking trails.  I borrowed that from their website.

 I must say my body felt like we did all that walking but we didn't. 

This is a view of the top where our family was picnicing.  Down there on that flat area, yeah we walked all the way down the cliff to get over to there and we kept walking. 

We did this twice, yep, my legs are sore. 

The leaves were starting to change colors. 

This was at the end of our trail, just beautiful.

But then we had to go back UP!

The going up seemed to take a lot longer than the going down!

My kids had a good time, although we had to get them off the rock walls a few times. 

They just did quite get the fact we were so far up and how dangerous it really could be.

My son had so much fun catching dragon flies. 

Mr. M. has shown interest in taking some road trip vacations but has a hard time thinking about all the noise in the van for more than the hour and 1/2 it took to get to this park.

  It takes HOW LONG to get to the Grand Cannon? 

 He says he will have to THINK about it.

Sunday was a day of resting.

Vintage Inspirations In Black and White

I did not think I would be able to come up with a post to join Debra from Common Ground's

Vintage Inspiration Friday party. 

 So, I decided to work on a new display for my table to get ready for tomorrows Fall Cloche Party with Marty from A Stroll Through Life and Show and Tell Friday with Cindy from My Romantic Home. 

  

Then as I started working at it, I new my post would be perfect for all of them.

I have been in a mood for Halloween, black and white became my inspiration as I was walking through my house pulling different pieces from my home to work into the display. 

  I was lucky enough to inherit my mother's vintage cameras and I have added a few to the collection over the years.  I also have been adding black hats to my collection of hats that I got from my mother. 

 I love how black and white look together.  

 It just kind of fell together. 

You see, I try to only have things in my house that I love and it makes it easier to display them. 

I have always liked this picture.  It speaks to me.

It inspires me!

I think by the time Halloween gets here I may have to write on my white pumpkin,

BOO perhaps!

This top hat is one of my favorite flea market finds.  It is collapsible too!

This a mix of my style, silver, buttons, black, white, candles and chippy. 

A simple cloche, but it tells so much. 

 That is my mom's camera that came from my grandmother. 

 The sheet music is some is my mom's too.

The picture, is my MOM when she was a young girl.

So is this. 

Someday I will show you a picture of when she looked just like Shirley Temple. 

I have the curls too!

Arbor Whites

 Fall is settling in, the air is getting colder and the trees are starting to change their colors. 
Now it is time for one of my favorite blossoms show their beauty.

Happy White Wednesday, I hope you enjoy some of the last white blooms of my garden as I join Kathleen from Faded Charm and all the other wonderful bloggers who love white as much as I do.

These blooms are from an Autumn Clematis, it is one of my favorites and I would recommend one to anyone.  If you look at early Spring pictures the vine is slowly growing up the arbor.  It takes all Summer to grow and then around the 3rd week of September it blooms, and boy if you could only smell the blooms, so sweet.  Each year the vine grows longer and longer and fuller until in couple of years I will have to cut it back or you will no longer see the arbor.

This is the Arbor that welcomes you to our home.

I am not sure exactly what the purple flowers are, but they are beautiful in the Fall and I have them everywhere.

This is the path that becomes overgrown by the end of Summer.

The arbor at the side of the house has been covered in rose vines and is showing their last blooms.

Here the Clematis is invading a snow ball bush. 

Believe it or not there is a birdhouse on a post under all those leaves and flowers.

I told you there was a bird house hiding, this picture was taken in June. 

 It is a good thing the birds are done nesting.

My garden is going through it's last weeding before the weather gets too cold. 

The blooms are almost done and I am enjoying the leaves turning colors. 

The pool is closed and I am ready to start thinking of getting ready for all the new celebrations to come.
