It'sGetting A Little Spooky Around Here

Hey, did you think I disappeared or something?

Na, just busy, busy, busy.
School, work and DIY.

I did take a few days to get the boxes out of the attic.
It is time to get
SPOOKY!

I have done only about half the decorations this year.
We are up to our
EYEBALLS
in painting, sanding, and getting our addition finished before the snow falls.
It's Buffalo, we don't have much time.

Sadly to say, there will be no Halloween party this year, for kids or adults.
But, that's ok, at least I keep telling myself it is.

I know, I know, we have to get this addition finished first.
The two things that make me feel better are;
One- we will be having one hell of a party next year.
Two- I already have a Christmas tree picked out to put in front of the french doors in the garage.

Yep, this holiday has not even passed and already I am thinking of the next.
Crazy like that.

My son helped me get the decorations out.
I told him it is like Christmas morning for me when I open the containers.

I only have to get the lights in the windows, go through a couple more totes to pick out my favorites and then let the haunting begin.

The kids have their Halloween costumes picked out.
Again, I am feeling let down because I do not get to pick one out for myself.
I can always use an old one to take the kids out on Halloween night.

The weather has been wonderful here.
The leaves are turning beautiful colors.
Fall is such a great season.

We still have our screen windows on and I keep them open on my days off.

This guy is the only decorationg I wish I could leave up all year long.

This is a picture from last years kids Halloween party.
I like to go back and see how I decorated the year before.
What will I keep the same and what will I change.

The skeletons have already taken up residence in the dinning room.

The crows are everywhere.

You would think we have all the time in the world to be hanging around.

GET BACK TO WORK!
Mr. M. says I am working him to death.
From the looks of this guy, I better let him take a break.

We have already drywalled, painted and tiled the mudroom and laundry room.
The wood floor will be delivered next week.
Then we have to install it just like we did the living room and study.
ALL 720 ft of it.

Don't even ask when we will get to the garage.
That is waiting for Spring, at least the drywall is up and it will make it warmer for the winter.

Ok, break is over.
There is painting to be done.

How, about you?
Are you ready to get SPOOKY?

Dressed for Parties

I hope everyone is having a lovely summer!

I have been busy as I am sure many of you at this time of year.
Lots of baseball, swimming, gardening and birthday planning.

I thought I would share some photos of my home as I took them just minutes before my guests arrived for our annual 4th of July party and my son's birthday.
I literally cut these roses earlier that morning.
I love the combination of all the different colors of roses.

Look Sara, I made my 4th decoration.
The little piece of wood I bought while on vacation with my girlfriend and I had this final picture in mind.  I am so glad it turned out perfect.

The dinning room is one of my favorite rooms in my home,
sadly to say it also one of the most unused rooms.
But, it still looks pretty waiting.

Here is the cabinet that I finally finished painting with the chalk paint.
I did wax it with clear wax but no distressing, daily life with three children will take car of that.

Here is a peak at the new fire pit area, it is just beyond the path leading from the brick patio.
We had a wonderful day!
The weather was perfect, the food was plentiful and the air was filled with laughter.
Family parties just can't be beat!

I am happy to be joining Debra at Common Ground for Vintage Inspiration Friday.

Impatient Painter

I don't know about you, but I am an impatient painter.

In fact, I have ruined many pj's because I couldn't wait for my husband to wake up to change my clothes and paint early on some mornings.

Today was no exception.
There was a package waiting for me yesterday when I got home from work.
I have been waiting for it to come and I was so excited.

Yep, I joined the chalk paint club, I bought it from HERE.  I think there may be a slight delay in the shipping because EVERYONE else seems to be buying some too.

I had to wait and paint today because I made the mistake of mentioning to Mr. M. that I wanted to paint the cabinet in the dinning room.
He did not say it, but I know he was thinking,
"but you just painted the cabinet black last year."

He has learned that when his wife has painting on her mind it is best to just let her be.

As soon as I got back home with my youngest son from pre-k I started painting.
I did not even bother to move anything!

Not much room to paint, I kept getting the back of the paint brush hung up on the small table.

Why bother removing the contents when I can just paint carefully.

Just look at the difference of the black and white.  I bought Chalk Paint as seen on Miss Mustard Seed's blog.  I chose Old White and Louis Blue, I know, I know, I am not a blue person, oh well, I guess I will just have to use the paint in my son's room.  He likes blue.

In a quick 1/2 hour I was able to almost finish painting the whole piece.  The side I painted first was already dry so I did a second coat on a small area and I am happy to say that I will only need two coats to cover the black.
 WOW!

My new WHITE cabinet!

I have painted many pieces of furniture over time and I was kind of in disbelief about how well the chalk paint would cover, look at the bottom right corner of the upper door.  I am a believer and I may just be ordering some more, no blue this time.

Well, if they have an aqua I may, just don't tell my sister!

So, you can see I have a new WHITE cabinet that I love!

How about you?  Are you doing any painting or are you still waiting for your chalk paint to arrive in the mail.......

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day.

I am joining Kathleen from Faded Charm for White Wednesday, if you too love anything white make sure to stop by all the participating blogs.

Keeping Busy

I am stuck as to what I should do next, start a new project or finish something I already started.

Oh, I know what I SHOULD do.
However should and want are two entirely different things in my world.

This beauty is in my basement.
I am thinking of moving it upstairs, the only problem is WHERE?

and I have to ask my sister "what are you doing today?"
This is usually code for "want to move some furniture with me?"
Most of the time I know she makes up excuses because I make her move TOO much furniture.

Anyway, that is one of my projects this year.
I am having a hard time getting started.
I always have a motivation problem after the holidays, but I am thinking that inspiration from all of you wonderful bloggers is going to help get me motivated.

I may not do the laundry but I will be painting and sewing some more.
The only problem is finding more time in my days.
I have officially started my new job and I am still trying to figure out how to do it ALL!

The laundry pile seems a little larger.
We are either eating more or the dishes not getting done.
The Christmas decorations are almost all put away, but even those last few are driving me crazy.

I have cleaned out most of the Christmas from my dinning room.
I left some greenery to give it color.

There is lots of snow on the ground and it is still coming down.
Living in the Northeast can do that to ya.
I like snow for Christmas, in fact I do get upset if there is none, BUT, it can go away now!

I am always ready to start thinking of gardening even while the snow is on the ground.
This year I am dreaming of starting a formal garden in our large back yard.
We have over 5 acres of land and most of it is grass, under the snow of course.

I am trying to break up the large space by creating different areas and I am hoping that a formal English garden with a cottage garden feel will help.

Kind of a combination of the two above.
I am thinking of an arbor at the end of the path with a bench seat to enjoy the view.

So, what are you daydreaming about as you wish for Spring to arrive?

Dinning Room Whites

I'm late with my White Wednesday post, but better late than never.
I had to make a stop at my favorite shop and get a new candle and work on my wish list for Santa!

I am joining Kathleen from Faded Charm for White Wednesday.

I may have all my Christmas trees up, but the house is definitely not finished being decorated.
You see, I have this problem, and I found out I am not the ONLY one, I can not leave a clean room alone.
I try, so hard, I do, ask  Mr. M., the day after a party when the house is at it's cleanest I have to go and start a project.  I am going to blame my parents and grandparents for passing on the craftiness gene to me.

Anyway, I finally finished most some of the dinning room.

Welcome to my dinning room!

I am just loving the silver at white that I have been using more in this room.

Just because there isn't a fireplace in here, doesn't mean I can't have a mantel!

This great cabinet is spending the winter in the house instead of the shed.
It may just stay too!

This pine cabinet is one of the first pieces of furniture I bought when we built the house.
I love looking in this room from the kitchen with the tree lit at night.

There is one of the stockings I have been working on.
See, I just can't help myself, always working on one project or another.

Thank you for stopping by to visit my dinning room.
Now I have to work on the kitchen.

Make sure to visit all the other white loving bloggers for White Wednesday at Faded Charm.

I hope your holiday decorations bring you joy when you see them.

Free Time For Decorating

I enjoyed my first day with ALL three of my children at school.

Did you hear any random yelling throughout the day?
That would be the MOMS overjoyed with having a day to themselves all over the counties.

I used my free time to clean the dinning room and redo the table with a fall table scape.

I am going to join Marty for Table Top Tuesday at A Stroll Thru Life and Kathleen for White Wednesday at Faded Charm.

My version of the burlap table runner.
I have not bought the sewing machine yet so no ruffles.

I did not bother setting the table, we only eat in there during Holidays or Special Occasions.
It is my other favorite room in the house because it is usually always clean.
It brings peace to me to have at least one room in the house that I can count on being toy free.

In the back you can see the white cornstalks I made for Fall.
I did not sell them at the flea market they were my favorites.

This is one of a pair of candle holders that were once ugly brass and now are beautiful.
I painted them white and distressed them with some stain I had around the house.

Thank you for stopping by to visit.

Don't forget to stop by Faded Charm and A Stroll Thru Life.
They are both linked to bloggers with great eye candy and ideas for decorating.
