Spring Snowballs

These are my kind of snowball.
It is my favorite season of all.

I know I post too many pictures of them, but it is a very short season.

I have them planted in almost every garden.

This bush has baby shoots underneath that need to be dug out.
I will move them to a new garden and water them good for the rest of the summer.

This crazy bush is in need of a good trim.
After the blooms are done, of course.
I also have to trim some of the clematis vines from it.

They hang to the ground, they are so big and fluffy.

Of course, you can't have a snowball bush without the spirea bushes.

This bush we can see from our kitchen window.
Hard to believe I gave it a hardy trim last year.

Like the snowball bush this is another viburnum bush, I love the hydrangea look it has to it.

Anyone in for a snowball fight?

I am joining Tracy from Fishtail Cottage for a Garden Party.
If you have not visited her gardens yet, you must, they are a sight to behold.

A New French Desk

New French desk for the office.

I had been looking and looking for the perfect desk for our office.
The look has stopped.
I found it.
At my favorite place, of course, Sally!

Great bones but just needed a paint job.

Much better.
I taped off all of the white areas and spray painted the blue.
I like how spray paint gets in all of the nooks and crannies and does not cover up detail.
I did get a little on the top of the desk, oops, that can happen when you don't tape everything.

I decided to sand the top and restain it with a mahogony gel stain.
When it was dry I waxed it with a dark paste wax.
My oldest son was my furniture mover.
First we had to get the large table out of the office and replace it with the desk.
Although we have less space on top of the desk, I now have drawers to put all the little things just seem to accumulate on top.

I love all the drawers.
And those handles-perfect!

Except the one drawer on top, for some reason it did not take to the spray paint.
I have to sand it and try again.

The drawer has been painted several times and I am waiting for it to dry.
Then I can wax it.

This is my new office view from the hallway.
As comfy as that chair is, I think it may need a change.

I just love my new desk and how the colors turned out.
I think it goes well with the colors in the rug.

This cabinet at Miss Mustard Seed was my inspiration.
Don't you just love it.
She has a way with furniture.

I have a cabinet almost like this in black.
I just might have to rethink my color choice.

I am glad to have at least one project almost done.
Now I have to finish the weeding and then start mulching all the beds.
That should keep me busy for the next few weeks.

And you, have you found any treasures lately?

I am joining French Country Cottage for Feathered Nest Friday.
Courtney featured my Spring house post from last week.
Thank you to all who are visiting.

It's That Time of Year AGAIN!

BASEBALL

Opening day.
I spent the whole day at the park.
The kids had fun.

This will be the only picture of a clean uniform.

At least my daughter is excited.
She is the one with her hands up in celebration.

Mr. M. was supposed to be there.
He is their coach.
He had to work out of town.

My oldest was there is support only as you can see!
I was able to get him to wear his team hat but not the uniform.
He had his first game on Monday.

The little guy still gets a little bored in outfield.
I caught him dancing again.

The two pizza shop sponsors played against each other.
I didn't ask who won, they may ask whose pizza I like better.

My daughter dressed in style.

PLAY BALL!

Celebrating Spring in the House

We are almost done working on the addition.
That means the assessor has to come in.
We had a lot of work dust to clean up.

I thought I would share some pictures of the house as it is today.

We still love the wood floors that we installed at Christmas time.
We only have the two boys rooms to install the wood floors.

I don't know if I can ever cover the wood with a rug.

I brought in some blues and pinks for my spring/summer colors.
I can't wait to get to the nursery and pick out flowers for my planters.

Do you like the white dresser?
We brought it up from the basement to eventually go into the kids bathroom.
I am hunting for a sink, for now, this is where it works.

I do not for one second doubt my choice of white slipcovers.
Pop them in the wash no problem!

I picked up some sale tulips on my lunch hour.
The house smells divine.

There are certain things that I just love about my home.
This picture is one.
Comfort, beauty.

Looking from the living room into the office.

Looking from the office to the living room.

Some more bright colors for spring.

One of the reasons I do not blog as much is that
I am getting my home to the point of loving it all.
There is no need to change.

Oh, I paint to cover life with 3 children, but the colors are the same.

There is less furniture moving.
I am also bringing less clutter into the house.
Moving more out actually.

The kitchen looking into the mud room.

Kids zone central in the mud room.
I have yet to paint any sayings on the wall.

The mud room looking into the kitchen.
We love, love, love the kitchen.
It is our hub.
Our gathering place.

The kids do their homework and eat breakfast in the kitchen.
Dinner is in the dinning room.

Hallway look towards front door.

Our new double oven stove we just love, love, love.
It makes cooking for large parties so much easier.

Mr. M. will agree that the center island is not always this clean.
It is easy to set a few things down and before you know it.
COVERED!
I try to make sure every Saturday morning it is totally cleaned off so we can start out the week with a clean slate.

I have been slowly bringing out my pretty rose dishes and sprinkling them throughout the house.

Our huge double sink is one of my favorite finds when we were building the house.

A mix of furniture found at antique shops.

As you can see the island is what you see first no matter what door you enter in the house.
It was custom made and is a statement piece.

This is the top of the stairs.

I love the cabinet filled with vintage quilts.
You can see a little of the painted floor rug.
Not sure if I love it, that is why I really haven't shown pictures.
After all the work I am not sure if I want to paint over it.

That is the house after a good spring cleaning.

Now that baseball season/gardening season is upon us,
we are hardly ever in the house.
At least it is clean.
