A Little Fall in the Mud Room

FALL is here.

I have been very busy with all the homework.
Helping the kids.
And
Doing my own!

I am not always the best with time management.
And
For me, creative does not equal organization.
So far from it!

However, I did manage to pack away most of my summer decor.

I only have just started decorating for Fall.
It is kind of squeezed in for a week or so before,
HALLOWEEN!!!

I swapped out the footstool for a small slipcovered chair.
I still need some artwork or plates on the wall.
I have not found any yet.
The hunt is the best part.
Now that the kids are back to school,
I have more free time to go antiquing.

I like how the blue looks with the orange.

New pillow and table cloth are from TJMaxx.
I am debating whether to use the table cloth as a throw or
slipcover the little footstool that was in this room previously.

A pretty plate also from TJMaxx.

Any you, have you finished decorating for Fall?
Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful week.

Celebrating Spring in the House

We are almost done working on the addition.
That means the assessor has to come in.
We had a lot of work dust to clean up.

I thought I would share some pictures of the house as it is today.

We still love the wood floors that we installed at Christmas time.
We only have the two boys rooms to install the wood floors.

I don't know if I can ever cover the wood with a rug.

I brought in some blues and pinks for my spring/summer colors.
I can't wait to get to the nursery and pick out flowers for my planters.

Do you like the white dresser?
We brought it up from the basement to eventually go into the kids bathroom.
I am hunting for a sink, for now, this is where it works.

I do not for one second doubt my choice of white slipcovers.
Pop them in the wash no problem!

I picked up some sale tulips on my lunch hour.
The house smells divine.

There are certain things that I just love about my home.
This picture is one.
Comfort, beauty.

Looking from the living room into the office.

Some more bright colors for spring.

One of the reasons I do not blog as much is that
I am getting my home to the point of loving it all.
There is no need to change.

Oh, I paint to cover life with 3 children, but the colors are the same.

There is less furniture moving.
I am also bringing less clutter into the house.
Moving more out actually.

Kids zone central in the mud room.
I have yet to paint any sayings on the wall.

The mud room looking into the kitchen.
We love, love, love the kitchen.
It is our hub.
Our gathering place.

The kids do their homework and eat breakfast in the kitchen.
Dinner is in the dinning room.

Hallway look towards front door.

Our new double oven stove we just love, love, love.
It makes cooking for large parties so much easier.

Mr. M. will agree that the center island is not always this clean.
It is easy to set a few things down and before you know it.
COVERED!
I try to make sure every Saturday morning it is totally cleaned off so we can start out the week with a clean slate.

I have been slowly bringing out my pretty rose dishes and sprinkling them throughout the house.

Our huge double sink is one of my favorite finds when we were building the house.

A mix of furniture found at antique shops.

As you can see the island is what you see first no matter what door you enter in the house.
It was custom made and is a statement piece.

This is the top of the stairs.

I love the cabinet filled with vintage quilts.
You can see a little of the painted floor rug.
Not sure if I love it, that is why I really haven't shown pictures.
After all the work I am not sure if I want to paint over it.

That is the house after a good spring cleaning.

Now that baseball season/gardening season is upon us,
we are hardly ever in the house.
At least it is clean.

The New Laundry Room

Until we built the addition and added a laundry room.
Laundry was done in the basement.

Now it is in the master bedroom.

So far, it is a good start.

The vintage cabinet was in the basement waiting for the perfect spot.

I have been compiling pictures of how I wanted the room to look.

I am loving the stripes on the wall.
I am thinking of horizontal, but more like a grain sack inspired look in light blue.

I think I have some of my son's blue paint left over that will work perfectly.

There's that color again, but it is just paint and easy to cover if I change my mind.

This is basically how small the laundry room is.
I did not want it to be huge, wasted space to me.

I do plan on adding shelves on the side of the cabinet for plenty of storage for necessities.

I am still looking for a shelf and hooks for the side wall.
They can not protrude too much that we hit our heads.

I also plan to hang the vintage ironing board in the room too.

Wall words to inspire.

It does make it easier to do a quick load of wash while getting ready for work.
I simply fold on the bed and the kids come and get their piles to put away.

I love that the new laundry room is not all the way in the basement.
Although, we do miss the days when we could just open the basement door and toss the dirty laundry down.

Today it is not even 8:00 and 65 degrees already.
I am not thinking about laundry on such a beautiful day.

I hope Spring has arrived for you too!

Ugly Footstool and A Couple of Shower Curtains

I finally have a new sewing machine.
I think it will be able to handle making lots of new slipcovers.
After breaking a second sewing machine in 2 weeks.
I am very happy with my new Janome 525S.

I was able to finish making a little slip for an ugly footstool.

A perfect seat for the kids to put their shoes on and off.

The bird fabric is a shower curtain I found at HomeGoods.
The striped fabric is also a shower curtain I found at Sally.
I love how the two look together.

I decided to go with a pleat instead of a ruffle.
I do not measure so a few may be off.
But, I have to wait for my new ruffler to come in the mail.

I was going to move the aqua dresser to the living room for the summer.
However, I am really liking how the color looks in the mud room.

My daughter's birthday is this week.
We will be busy preparing for her birthday party.
Next week I have already have three slipcovers cut and ready for sewing.

Can you tell I am in the mood for Spring?

It is starting to warm up, the snow is gone and I really think this might be
SPRING!
