The Shed That Thinks It's a Cottage

Did you like my teaser on White Wednesday?
Come on in, I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

Ok, so I have made you wait long enough.

First I think we need to see a before picture just to show how far this shed has really come.

This shed was packed to the rafters.
You could not move around without having to move something out of your way first.

Well look at the SHED NOW!

I am sharing Cottage 5 for Show and Tell Friday with Cindy at My Romantic Home and Remodelaholic for Friday Remodelaholic's Anonymous Meeting.

I must tell you I had the most fun working on this shed because there were no boundaries or limits as to what I could do with it.  Once Mr. M. saw that I was not going to give up and just simply put a bed in it.

Ah, that is SO not how I do things at all.

It started simply with painting the walls white.

Done.

Next.

Then the ceilings went white.

Next.

The floor, what to do about the floor?
Melissa from Cranberry Cottage, thank you, suggested STRIPES.

YES, that is the answer.
If you have seen previous posts of mine you will notice I like both diamonds and stripes.
BUT a shed you are thinking, and to that I say WHY NOT?

Once the company goes home and the Fall Season starts to settle in, yes it goes back to being a shed, but for the WHOLE summer it gets to be beautiful,
COTTAGE 5.

Are you ready for the reveal?

Don't you just love them!  I even let my kids help me paint a few stripes.  I painted a border of the green all around the whole room 16x20.  Then I painted stripes of dark blue, burgundy, tan, green and light blue on the inside to make it look like a rug.
Oh, and NO tape used here, painted all by hand baby!

Doesn't that bed look just SO comfy?  My kids tested it and thumbs up Mom.
We are going to have movie night here this week.
Dinner too!

I brought the iron crib down from the third floor for extra seating.

Remember, I brought the shop home.

I had to put it somewhere, now Clara Louise's pretties look right at home.

I provided plenty of storage for the pretties.

My shop collectibles seem to fit right in.

I sure can cram a lot into such a tiny space right?

What weekend can I sign you up for?

Remember breakfast is included and the pool is only a few steps away.

Thank you for stopping by, I hope you enjoyed your visit to my shed.
Now I think I may just go take a nap on that bed.
 I sure deserve it.

Guest House Shed Sneak Peak

I am still in the process of cleaning out.
The innards of the shed are laying in the lawn, some anyway.
The reason I am mentioning the shed again, I found some inspiration to get started on the end result.  Hey sometimes you have to work backwards.  Well in my world I do.
I found this fabric today, isn't it gorgeous!  Now I am not as particular to blue as I am green, but I do not dislike it like the yellow.  But this fabric has texture and roses and greens in it.  I just had to buy all of it and now I am using it in the shed.  I am not going to tell how yet (actually I don't even know) but at least I have a start.
Don't you just love it.
Besides going with white, I am thinking of checker-boarding the floor in one of these alternate colors.
And I have started picking out some of the accessories.
I went to JoAnn Fabrics and found some coordinating fabric to work with.
I think I am forgetting it is JUST A SHED.
Of course I will not forget the WHITE!
A few more treasures picked up at my favorite Salvation Army we call her Sally, because we are on a first name basis and she is simply the best place to go for a bargain.

Opps, while we were there a few chairs jumped into the back of my car.
I swear that is how it happened!  At least that is what I'm telling Mr. M.
A good place to start, now I have to get motivated to empty the rest of the shed and start painting before it is too warm in there.  Have a wonderful weekend everyone.
No PINK today.

My Little White Shed

Join me for White Wednesday hosted by Faded Charm.  Make sure you visit and check out all the wonderful White.

I thought I would show you a White project I am going to be working on for my WhiteWednesday. My husbands family is hosting a large family reunion this summer, that is to happen on the weekend of my son's birthday, who was born on the 4th of July. My project is to get our shed from looking like a shed to a beautiful cottage for our guests.  It already has good bones and one coat of white on the outside.  The inside is still just a little bit messy.

Do you see the weathered wicker chair and white table peaking out at you.  What you don't see are two more wicker chairs, a set of 4 ice cream chairs, a white dresser, white cuboard, vintage pie safe, vintage cuboard and two white chandeliers.  Plenty to start with for making a peaceful cottage for my guests.
Addorable isn't it, I found this treasure while I was on a business trip with Mr. M.  Of course I had to add the shades I enhances with some buttons and ruffles and some vintage chandelier beads found at a local flea market.
This one is just a newer brass one that was given to me that I painted white and serves a purpose of giving light.

Here is the hidden cuboard and a little white folding table, and a couple more metal lawn chairs.

Now the project is to empty the room and paint it white, and fill it back up with all the white furniture I showed you, along with a cute bed that is in the process of being painted and lots of knick knacks to make it just perfect.  Now where is Mr. M. to help me clean this out.
