Kids Bathroom Refresh

A new bathroom.
Well,
Almost new.

I have been wanting to replaced the vanity.
The kids needed a larger one for all their stuff.
My oldest has discovered his HAIR, that must be combed at least twice a day.
Sometimes more!

We were originally going to use this dresser.
However, I felt bad having to cut off part of the side to make it fit.

So, I put it in the mud room for now.
One reason I love having WHITE as my main color,
I can move furniture to any of the rooms in the house and it looks great.

We added a new vanity base from here.

We were on vacation the week of July 4th.
So I decided it was a good time to get some work done.
Poor Mr. M. I had him running from store to store trying to get everything.
I did not like the vanity tops at Lowe's, so off to Home Depot we went.

I decided on this top from here.

I was not sure if it would look ok with our current floor tile.
But, let me tell you a secret, it really didn't matter,
because I plan on redoing the floors in the next couple of years.
I have yet to include this plan with Mr. M. so this is just between us!

Of course a new vanity means new faucet.....and toilet dispenser......and so on and so on.

The only problem we ran into with the new update was that the wall cabinet had to be moved up.

Not so much of a problem, I just have to repaint the walls.
And, if you know me, you know I love to paint.

Now to find lights for for the master bath.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

There's A Lazy Boy in My Bathroom

This remodel has finally invaded the whole house.
We had to empty the new bedroom to stain and poly the floors.

It has officially gotten crazy here.
There is a lazy boy in my bathroom.

I kid you not.

And a shop vac in my bathtub.

All so we could finish the floors.

New entrance through Mr. M.'s closet and new hallway.

We put a new entrance through Mr. M.'s closet, now his clothes are in our bedroom, the hallway, the bathroom and my daughter's room.

We, meaning I, decided to change the color of the stain for our new bedroom.
I freaked out on poor Mr. M.
I think I might have even screamed.
IT'S PURPLE!

OH MY GOD!

Thank goodness we were only in my closet and we had only just started putting the stain on.
I don't like it!

Far doors are entrance to his and her closets.

Mr. M. gave me a look of what now.

I went and got the original stain we have in the rest of the house and put some down next to the new stain.
Mmmm, not so different.
Of course the lighting wasn't helping.
We have not put up any lights yet and we were working with one of those blinding spot lights.
And it was 7:00 at night, with no natural light.

I kept pacing back and forth, saying it looks purple.
What do you think?  I asked him a million times.
Then he wiped off more stain.
Oh.
Well, maybe not so purple now.
I asked again, "do you like it?"
"Can't see it from my closet." He says.

We did the whole closet and let it sit overnight.

Then we did his closet.
I asked him a few hundred more times if he liked it.
Mr. M. responded with, "what am I supposed to say, no.  I'm not changing it now."
Just great.

We did the whole room.

No purple.
Darker.
Just how I wanted it.
I love it.

We are putting a second coat of poly on tonight.
Next week the work goes into over drive.

Install chandeliers.
Final coat of paint on walls.
Start putting up window, ceiling and door trim.
Install dryer and washer in laundry room.
Install closet systems.
And.....
The list goes on...........

We are hoping to be in the room and have my youngest son's room almost complete by Christmas.

It is amazing how far we have come in only a few months since we started putting up the drywall in July.

After these rooms are done Mr. M. says he is sitting his butt down and relaxing until spring.

Then we have the monster garage to finish.

Our little guy is turning 7 this week so we are going to take a break from working and celebrate.
Cake and family.

Thanks for dropping by and have a wonderful week.

Bats in my ......BATHROOM

I have bats!

Lots of them.

They are in the bathroom.

I have bats in my bathroom.
DO YOU?

Large, very large
and
small.

They hang from the ceiling.

They hang on the wall.

Amazing what you can do with a couple of Dollar Store bags of bats, some string and a glue gun.
Yep, you guessed it, glued the strings right to the ceiling and wall.

On the day of our Annual Halloween party we change out all lights for black or orange lights.
It really looks spooky!

BLUE.....Yes I Said Blue

I actually bought blue.

Yes BLUE!

Even I can't believe it.
I thought that blue was just not my color.
Especially after I tried using it so many times.
I guess I can take it in little doses.

I went shopping at TJMaxx looking for some color to bring into our 1/2 bathroom.
I found blue and lots of it that day.

Come in and look at the changes I have made.

A beautiful BLUE transferware plate found at a local thrift shop.

I replaced a picture with a vintage white mirror from my bedroom.
Blue and green hydrangeas and some sea shells with a little blue.

A beautiful beach oil reproduction.
I just kept coming back to this picture.
It was the final decision to go with the blue.
The rest just fell into place.

A new blue pot.

A partial view from the mirror above the sink.

Surprisingly I think the blue is here to stay, at least for the summer.
The good thing about all of my choices,
I can take them down and change them out for a different color.

Yesterday I found some beautiful towels with brown rosettes, the dinning room perhaps.

So have you been brave and tried a color outside your comfort zone?

Did you watch the WALK?
We just finished watching Nik Wallenda walk across Niagara Falls.
Although we live close enough to see it in person, we watched from the comfort of our living room.
Amazing what a person can do if they set there mind to it.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
