Bulletin Board with Buttons

I am joining Reinvented for Trash to Treasure Tuesday-More Flea Market Finds.

I try to do some kind of creative project at least once a week, it makes me happy.  As I was setting up my new computer room, we moved our youngest into a room with his older brother.  I noticed I needed a bulletin board for putting my important papers and notes.  Ah creative time.

I used an old frame I had bought several years ago at one of my favorite flea markets, I dragged it out of the basement, found some fabric I had in the linen closet and ceiling tiles we had left over from finishing our basement.  I did not take pictures of each of the steps, I did not know I would have such a need to do so.  Let me tell you it was very easy to do, in fact if I were to flip it over you would see duct tape holding the fabric to the ceiling tile.  Sometimes crafty can be VERY easy!

Here is my new bulletin board.

I love old chippy frames, and ahh bark cloth fabric with roses, my favorite.

I also made the button push pins. I love to find new uses for my buttons so they are not just sitting in jars.

Thank you for joining me in my crafty project of the day.  What are you going to do today to be crafty?

I'm So Blue Mosaic Monday

I am joining two linking parties today.  First is I'm So Blue Monday's with Melinda at Alabaster Rose Designs , and Mosaic Monday at The Little Red House.  So I decided to do a Blue Mosaic.  I do try to multi task whenever possible.

Due to only having a limited amount of BLUE in my home, I thought I would do a small mosaic of my son's BLUES.

I painted the room long before I ever thought of having children, this room was once our guest room.  The color is a dark blue and it is appropriate for my oldest son who was born on the 4th of July.

One of my favorite quilts hangs in my son's room.

Along with the blue basket that has the teddy bear inside.

Thank you for visiting my son's BLUE room.  Make sure to visit all the other Blues and Mosaics and have a wonderful day.

A Little Pink In The Writing

For over seven years now I have been making special pens for my children to give as gifts to their teachers for the Holidays or whenever there was a special event.  You may be thinking great the same gift every time, how thoughtful, not.  But wait until you see what it is.  I am joining Beverly at How Sweet The Sound and all the other wonderful bloggers for PINK SATURDAY.

Of course my favorite Pens are the pink ones.  I do not just make the pens with roses.  I also use Tulips and Daisies for Spring events, Poinsettias for Christmas and Sunflowers and Mums for fall.  For the last day of school my kids present their teachers with a whole bouquet.

This year for Mother's Day my son's teacher turned the tables on me and they made the Rose pens for all the mothers of the kids.  I love it when creativity is passed on.  I also sold the pens in my old shop Clara Louise's Painted Cottage.

Thank you for visiting me and have a wonderful weekend.

Happy Birthday To ME!

Today May 14, is my birthday so I am going to celebrate with a big piece of death by chocolate cake that I made for myself, and I licked every spoon, knife and mixing paddle that was used to make it.

It's All About The Ruffles

I am hijacking my own post to add another LINK.  I am doing this because I have to add Angie's Slipcover Show-off #10.  Angie from Threadneedle Studio went out of her way to help me with my first slipcover, she even gave me her phone #.   That is what I call going above and beyond.  Thank you Angie!  So make sure you check out the slipcovers in her link and if you have questions, she certainly helped me, and I even went and made another slipcover.  If I can do so can YOU!

I am in heaven, heaven I tell you!  I just finished making my second slipcover and this time I did not have to ask for help in my blog.  So please join me, yep another linking party, this is Friday's Featured Slipcovers at Pink and Polka Dot and I decided to make it a triple Friday link party and link to Furniture Feature Friday at Miss Mustard Seed's and Show and Tell Friday at My Romantic Home.  And Why shouldn't we have a big party today, after all it is a special day!

I must say I love putting the ruffles on my slipcovers.

I am also including some pillows that I made using plain white fabric and some vintage bark cloth that was once a curtain.  The ruffles on the pillows were already premade I just sewed them on, and to make it even easier I made the pillows in the fold over fashion so I can take the pillow out when I want to wash the cover.

Here is my love seat slipcover.
I love this love seat, it is small enough to fit in my office and my kids love to lay on it and color while I am on the computer. Or it can go in the dinning room freeing up extra chairs for parties.

Here is the pinning and cutting, probably the hardest part for me.

I pin the whole slipcover together before I start sewing.  I still have a little trouble with the inside corner, but I do it slowly and think about how it is supposed to go together.

I almost decided not to put on the ruffle, you tell me, do you like it with or without ruffles?

Here is the before:

Thank you for taking a peak at my slipcover.  Don't forget to check out all of the other slipcovers and featured furniture, hey it might even inspire you to try.

By the way.
