He Paints

My father paints!

Maybe this is why I am drawn to painting myself.

The painting of the arbor is one of my favorites.
I am lucky to own one, there are only three similar and no more.

My father has not painted any like it since. . . . . . .

One of his floral paintings.

I think I prefer his old barn ones the best, I have yet to get one of those, there is time.

 He still paints.

This was from my Fatherr, a wedding gift to me and my husband.

It has our initials on the tree.
 The tree of life.

He paints during the winter when he is not busy being a farmer.

The boy draws because the Grandfather paints!

It's in his bones to be artistic.

The White Feathered Nest

I was invited to join a new link party called Feather Your Nest Thursday's at Secrete Garden Cottage
I left my camera in the van my husband took to work so I will have to go into photo archives.

First I make sure the outside of my nest is beautiful to look out at.

As much as there is color outside my home from all the beautiful flowers, the first thing you notice when you come inside is all of the natural light from all the windows and WHITE, lots and lots of WHITE.
If you have not read my blog before then you would not know I have a HUGE thing for WHITE.
In fact I have filled my home with white of all types, shapes and sizes.  From cabinets to platters, shelves to table runners, no room to me is complete without something white in it.
I love to have old, crackled, chippy and aged white stuff around me.

I love to have plants indoors too.

I have quite a collection of quilts for displaying in my home.

Even the cabinets are packed with collections.

I usually have a white pitcher in each room for fresh flowers.

I love to have candles all around the house.

I hope you enjoy feathering your nest as much as I do mine.

Stop back and visit Secret Garden Cottage to see how other bloggers feather their nests.

The Boy Can STILL Draw

I posted earlier in the month about my oldest son drawing and the affect it was having on his math skills and possibly interfering with his chance of passing 2nd grade and moving up to 3rd grade.

HE PASSED!

My son is going into 3rd grade and he has earned his drawing privileges back.

You have no idea how many times I caught him trying to sneak drawing this past week.  I had to ground him from drawing to get him to concentrate on his math until we found out if he passed or not.

If DRAWING is the worst thing my son does at school I will be more than happy.

He drew a new picture to celebrate.

He has been into pirates lately.
Last night he watched Superman so I am sure some new drawings will be in order.

Now that I do not have to worry about school, I can concentrate on having a great Summer!

I hope all of you can have a worry free Summer too.

White Flowers

It is my favorite day of the week already, WHITE WEDNESDAY with Kathleen at Faded Charm
I can not help it, flowers again, I have been in the gardens all week weeding.
I finaly had to walk away from the computer and tend to my pretties.

Today I am going to show you some more of my white blooms.  I am sorry if I bore you will all of my flowers but they are a passion for me.   I only wish that I could take better pictures to show you really what it looks like because the real thing is even better.

I love to have the old chippy chairs around the gardens.
The ones with no seats are great to plop a hanging basket, no work required.

My delphiniums are getting huge.

These roses all around my gardens and on my arbor are wild roses that I have dug up from near the ponds.  They have little white roses and they can grow to be huge that is why I love to have them near my arbors.
The only drawback is that they only bloom once during the summer.

See that fire hydrant, it is for Mr. M. he is a volunteer fireman.  It doesn't work but someday I want to turn it into a fountain, wouldn't that be fun. How about those roses!  I think they need an arbor to keep them in line.

Oh honey I have a new prodject for you!

Thank you for stopping by to visit me, don't forget to visit Faded Charm and see all the other wonderful whites.

Bunny in The Garden

I have been working in the gardens for the last week.  First weeding and then mulch/composting.  My body feels like I have been doing a workout with Bob from the Biggest Looser.
This year my roses seem to be at their best and they are not all in bloom and this is only the first bloom, they will get cut back and do this all summer.  How lucky am I!

Last night after dinner I decided to go and try to finish the truck load of mulch.  My oldest boy was out with his net, this time it was A BUNNY HUNT.  I found a baby bunny a week ago has been living in my flower gardens and I thought aw how cute, that was until I found he nipped the heads off all my annuals I WAS GOING TO PLANT.

  BAD BABY BUNNY!

The hunt was on.
My son was crawling in and around, behind the bushes flushing the bunny out and his brother and sister were yelling "there he is."  That poor little bunny was running from bed to bed trying to get away.  I was laughing so hard, it was nice entertainment while I worked.  I am hoping the bunny might decide to hop on back to the forest and get his nibble on back there FAR from my flowers.

Today while the kids are still sleeping and Mr. M. is on an ambulance call (volunteer Fireman), I snuck out and took a few pictures of the arbor.

We are going to a neighbor Fire hall to show our support and enjoy a Father's Day breakfast.  Followed by a morning of watching a Civil War Reenactment at the Town Museum.  My oldest son the drawer has been looking forward to this event all year.

The rest of our day is for swimming, playing, eating and ADULT conversation at our great niece's
1st birthday party.
Let's just hope it doesn't rain.

 Today I rest.
The traveling gardener starts all over again on Monday.

When the gardens are done, then.

I tackle my next painting project.

It should be an interesting project to paint that arbor.

  I like a good challenge.

I hope you have a great day too!

The Shed That Thinks It's a Cottage

Did you like my teaser on White Wednesday?
Come on in, I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

Ok, so I have made you wait long enough.

First I think we need to see a before picture just to show how far this shed has really come.

This shed was packed to the rafters.
You could not move around without having to move something out of your way first.

Well look at the SHED NOW!

I am sharing Cottage 5 for Show and Tell Friday with Cindy at My Romantic Home and Remodelaholic for Friday Remodelaholic's Anonymous Meeting.

I must tell you I had the most fun working on this shed because there were no boundaries or limits as to what I could do with it.  Once Mr. M. saw that I was not going to give up and just simply put a bed in it.

Ah, that is SO not how I do things at all.

It started simply with painting the walls white.

Done.

Next.

Then the ceilings went white.

Next.

The floor, what to do about the floor?
Melissa from Cranberry Cottage, thank you, suggested STRIPES.

YES, that is the answer.
If you have seen previous posts of mine you will notice I like both diamonds and stripes.
BUT a shed you are thinking, and to that I say WHY NOT?

Once the company goes home and the Fall Season starts to settle in, yes it goes back to being a shed, but for the WHOLE summer it gets to be beautiful,
COTTAGE 5.

Are you ready for the reveal?

Don't you just love them!  I even let my kids help me paint a few stripes.  I painted a border of the green all around the whole room 16x20.  Then I painted stripes of dark blue, burgundy, tan, green and light blue on the inside to make it look like a rug.
Oh, and NO tape used here, painted all by hand baby!

Doesn't that bed look just SO comfy?  My kids tested it and thumbs up Mom.
We are going to have movie night here this week.
Dinner too!

I brought the iron crib down from the third floor for extra seating.

Remember, I brought the shop home.

I had to put it somewhere, now Clara Louise's pretties look right at home.

I provided plenty of storage for the pretties.

My shop collectibles seem to fit right in.

I sure can cram a lot into such a tiny space right?

What weekend can I sign you up for?

Remember breakfast is included and the pool is only a few steps away.

Thank you for stopping by, I hope you enjoyed your visit to my shed.
Now I think I may just go take a nap on that bed.
 I sure deserve it.
