A Gift From a Friend

I received a beautiful gift from a friend.

When I came home from vacation I had a package sitting on the counter waiting for me.  I was so excited, what was it going to be, I already knew who it was from.  I had been checking the mail daily patiently waiting for my package to arrive.

I was a winner, we ALL were winners!

Dawn from Cottage State of Mind decided to celebrate her first year of blogging by giving a gift to one of her commenter's.  She did not tell us ahead of time what the gift would be, she was going to personally pick for the winner selected.

She really surprised us, ALL that is, she decided not to pick one winner but to send each of us who commented a special gift.

This is what I found in my box.

Aren't they just beautiful?

I think so!

I love my new pitcher!

I filled the pitcher with my favorite hydrangeas IMMEDIATELY and it took center stage on my kitchen table.

Dawn took her time reading through our blogs trying to get to know each of us better so she could choose the perfect gift.

Funny thing, friendship is all we NEED.
Dawn said she knew she was going to send me the pitcher even before I mentioned loving them.

I think she believes I have a thing for WHITE!

I love the details of the linen.

To me the the hankies and the special part of the gift.

I have a thing for numbers.

Dawn sent me 5 napkins.

NOT 6.

There are 5 of us in my family and I do not always know what to do with the extra one, no matter what it is, it sits unused, unloved.

How perfect was that!

Thank you Dawn, I know you paid attention and really cared about what you sent me.

Get Your Cloche On

Today I am going to join the Cloche Party with Marty from A Stroll Thru Life.  I have several cloches that I like to put little displays in.  As I decorate my home with a few of my favorite accessories that is how my cloches tend to turn out too.

This cloche is on my coffee table in the living room.

How wonderful is that footed silver bowl.

White button frame and a sea shell.
This book is one that I saved from my mother's collection.

I love the worn white of this door plate.

Kitchen table cloche.

A few of my favorite things.  Small urns, buttons, books, candle and a simple floral.

This is one of my favorite plants my sister gave me potted in a wine glass.

Buttons, buttons, I've got buttons.

Thank you for stopping by.  What would you put under a cloche?
Stop by and see all the neat cloche displays here.

A Lucky Find

Sometimes as bloggers we find new blogs that make us laugh, are visual eye candy, and if we are lucky provide inspiration.  I was lucky enough to have a blog find me!  I had a new follower leave me nice comment, so like normal I went to visit her blog because I always try to respond when someone leaves me a comment.  I was more than pleasantly rewarded by her blog.  Some of my favorite blogs are ones that are done by creative women who provide inspiration for those who come to visit.  Take some time to visit Debbie at her blog Cottage and Cabin or at her website Cottage and Cabin Interiors.

She has some beautiful items that she and her husband make and sell.

I know I am just in love with this bench aren't you?

Do you not just love those ruffles?

or this one?

Oh and there is more.
You just have to visit her to see.

She makes slipcovers too!

I have to say this is one of my favorites, go here to see more.

And pillows,

curtains and drapes.

So if you are in need of a beautiful slipcover, pillow, curtains, drapes or something else that strikes your fancy and you are in her Alabama area, I would definitely contact Debbie.  Not only does she work in her own workshop, Debbie is also located at Old South Antique Mall and bless her, she even has an esty shop.

Let me tell you, if it wouldn't cost so much for me to ship my wing back chairs, she would be making me a pair of slipcovers in WHITE for sure!

Thank you for coming to visit.
Have you found someone to inspire you lately?

White Hydrangeas

My white hydrangeas are in bloom and I just had to take some pictures and bring some blooms in the house.  I love the way they look all flopped over.  Join me and Faded Charm for my favorite day White Wednesday.  If you love white like I do, you are sure to see plenty to fall in love with too!

Do you see my beautiful NEW white pitcher?
It is a special one, but the story will have to wait for another day.

Happy White Wednesday to all and thank you for stopping by.

I've Got My Tables Covered

Table Top Tuesday.

I have tried in the past to pare down.  NOT VERY HARD!

 It did not work!!!

So when you tend to collect more than one thing like I do, you have to find spots to put them.  More often than not I have TOO much on my side tables, so much so that Mr. M. often questions where he may place his glass of water.

My table tops are usually a simple collection of silver, a white pitcher and sometimes a white platter, white linen, my floral can be either faux or real depending on the season, a picture of the family, a candle and a trinket or two.

You can see Mr. M.'s dilemma, not much room for that glass.

I like to have my collections scattered around the house and along with being clustered in cabinets.  Don't think I spend all my day dusting my collections, that is not happening.  I try to rotate my tablescapes at least once a month if not every couple of weeks, helps keep the dust off!  Fresh flowers from the gardens or a new treasure picked up from a flea market are always a good addition.

I am joining Marty from A Stroll Through Life for Table Top Tuesday.

Thank you for joining me.

What do you have on your tables that tells a story about you?

Petri What?

Do you remember one of my finds while I was on vacation visiting my girlfriend?  The petri dishes, if you want to see the original post go here.   I said that I would tell you what I had in mind for them.  Here is one of my ideas.

My kids had fun looking for the stickers and other fun things to put inside.  I treated the glass container as if it was a small scrap book container.  This is just my trial one so I know what to collect when we go to the beach later in the month.  I also plan to put a picture of the kids playing in the sand, inside of the petri dish.

There are so many ideas of what I can do with the other petri dishes.  Special holiday mementos, snow and tiny ornaments, candy hearts and love notes, there is no limit as to what can be done with them.

SPECIAL NOTE:  I did find out that I have to glue the top to the bottom or all the sand will fall out.  I wish I could say I figured that one out without doing so first. NO.  Note to self, do not shake the dish with sand in it.

This was just a little something I thought I would share with you and The Girl Creative for Just Something I Whipped Up Monday.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!
