Getting In The Mood

The weather is cooling down and the leaves are starting to turn different colors.  My fall decorations are slowly being worked into each room in the house.
The best part is that HALLOWEEN is just around the corner and that means it is time for a
HALLOWEEN PARTY!

I found a new blog this week full of fun ideas and a new link party.
Being the party girl I thought I would join Wendy from Wendy's Adventures in Wonderland for Spooky Mondays.

After many years of wanting to have a Halloween party, I finally got my wish last year and it was SO worth it.  I would recomend hosting one if you have never done so.  There is a bonus, cob webs in the corners are acceptable, no dusting necessary.  Here are a few pictures from last years' HALLOWEEN.

Afraid of spiders?

Eyeballs anyone?

Story time.

Dinner by candlelight?

I have already been thinking of how I will deliver my invitations this year.  Last year we served up GHOSTLY severed fingers in a box.  Actually it was really funny, no one would open their doors to us because my sister and I hand delivered all the invitations IN COSTUME.  No one new who we were and it was broad daylight, the middle of October, would YOU open the door to the headless horseman?

If you are looking for ideas or just like Halloween then you don't want to miss visiting all of the blogs signed up for this party.  I stopped by a few from the past two weeks and I just can't wait to get to the craft store.

BOO!

Summer's Last Bouquets

My gardens flourish again at the end of summer due to the dewy mornings.
Last night I went and cut some of the last bouquets.

I love the color combination of pink, white and green.

This morning I moved the vase to the living room.

I loved how the flowers looked in the living room, so I went back into the gardens to cut some more for the kitchen.

Have a wonderful Saturday.

Free Time For Decorating

I enjoyed my first day with ALL three of my children at school.

Did you hear any random yelling throughout the day?
That would be the MOMS overjoyed with having a day to themselves all over the counties.

I used my free time to clean the dinning room and redo the table with a fall table scape.

I am going to join Marty for Table Top Tuesday at A Stroll Thru Life and Kathleen for White Wednesday at Faded Charm.

My version of the burlap table runner.
I have not bought the sewing machine yet so no ruffles.

I did not bother setting the table, we only eat in there during Holidays or Special Occasions.
It is my other favorite room in the house because it is usually always clean.
It brings peace to me to have at least one room in the house that I can count on being toy free.

In the back you can see the white cornstalks I made for Fall.
I did not sell them at the flea market they were my favorites.

This is one of a pair of candle holders that were once ugly brass and now are beautiful.
I painted them white and distressed them with some stain I had around the house.

Thank you for stopping by to visit.

Don't forget to stop by Faded Charm and A Stroll Thru Life.
They are both linked to bloggers with great eye candy and ideas for decorating.

My Pie Man

I am fortunate to have my very own Pie Man.

My husband's family owned a local restaurant down the road from his house when he was little.
He was lucky that he grew up with his grandmother living in his home.  She taught him many things but most importantly how to bake.  Most families bring brownies or cupcakes when asked to bring a desert to a party, not mine.  Mr. M. made dark chocolate and coconut cream pie last night and this morning I helped him make fresh apple pies.

Mr. M. makes the most amazing pies, his crust is to die for.

Mmmm we taste tested a piece of the chocolate pie for breakfast.

I can't wait to have some Apple Pie for lunch.

The hardest choice is crumb top or regular crust top.

We are off to a party today.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Labor Day, as for me, I will be eating PIE!

Vintage Inspiration Friday

I was trying to decide on one thing to share for Vintage Inspiration Friday with Debra at Common Ground and Show and Tell Friday with Cindy at My Romantic Home.  I was having a hard time narrowing it down and my wanderings kept bringing me back to my kitchen.

My kitchen is full of Vintage, from the farm house sink to the mantel over the dinning room door.

When we decided to build our home as newlyweds, I wanted an older home but my husband wanted to use land he had inherited.  In a compromise we agreed to build a new house that felt like and older home with updated features.

It just shows you that just because it is a new home, it does not mean it has to look it.

Our kitchen is my favorite room in the house.  The kitchen is located in the back of the house and is visible from each door entrance.

I think our kitchen is full of vintage inspirations.

WELCOME to my kitchen!

This is the view as you walk in from our side entrance mud room.

This island is the pride and joy of our kitchen.  It is the main piece of furniture you see when you walk in the room.  We had this custom made by a gentleman whom made furniture as a hobby.  He did an amazing job!  He even made the legs by hand.  For him the hardest part was distressing it to fit with our kitchen cabinets.  We use this island for anything and everything from buffets to crafts for the holidays.

This is the view of the kitchen from the Front door.
These are the stripes I talked about in my previous post about painting.

How do you like our old fashion phone?
Mr. M. says we have to keep it because sometimes it is the only phone he can find.
He has a wonderful sense of humor.

I love using vintage furniture.

This is actually a dresser that holds extra kitchen supplies.

This is part of what you see when you come in off the back deck.

This is the mirror over my kitchen table and one of my favorite quotes in the house.

Thank you for stopping by.

Make sure you stop by Common Ground and My Romantic Home, you never know where your next inspiration may come from.

A Long Day

I made it to the end of ANOTHER flea market.

I must say that I applaud all the vendors who do this more than once in 5 years as I have done.  It is HARD work and I hope everyone who has ever shopped at a flea market understands all the work and the whole process that goes into preparing for a flea market.  Not only the buying or making of treasures to sell, tagging, packing, loading and trucking everything to the location, unloading and fluffing their booth.  OH and don't forget about the dismantling, repacking and reloading and taking all the unsold items back for storage, and for some of us, unloading again and storing for the next flea market.

 I am DONE!

I vow to only SHOP from now on!!!!!!!

Seriously though, I had FUN!  For me the best part is the FLUFFING of my booth.  Guess what?  I had so many shoppers and vendors ask me if I had a shop and if so where was it, and then the best words came from the owner and most of the other vendors and shoppers.

 I was voted BEST BOOTH!

I had a little lot of everything.
China, pottery, linens, mirrors, silver, furniture, quilts.

You name it, I had it there.

My space was a 20x20 and the tent 10x20 and I filled every inch I had available.
I was packed to the ceiling.

Thank goodness my sisters were there to help!
My whole family pitched in from loading and hauling to babysitting and unloading.

 THANKS!

I couldn't have done it without you for sure!

I had a good day.  I was lucky a dealer came through early and bought almost all my large furniture.  That means not having to haul it back home.  I sold some of my hand made signs, and tags.  I was surprised that more of the architectural stuff did not sell, but really I have no complaints.
I get to buy my new sewing machine and the RUFFLE foot.

I did a lot of HAPPY DANCING too!

However, this girl is retiring from flea market shows.........well maybe.........we will just have to see what kind of mood I am in next year.

Since my booth is just plastered in WHITE and I am still tired from the weekend.
I will use this post for my favorite party of the week with Kathleen from Faded Charm for White Wednesday.
