Do You BOO?

I am neck deep in Halloween decorations.
I have completed the invitation for my kids first Halloween costume party.
Two of the kids have their costumes are just can't wait for the spooky day.

And you.
DO YOU BOO?

While I am busy getting ready for this year's Halloween party, I thought I would show you some pictures from last year.
The picture above is the fireplace mantel in the dinning room.
I do reuse most of my decorations from years past, but I try to mix it up.

Bats on the wall.
A cheap effect and one I have already started working on in the living room.

Witch in the front yard.

So, how about you?
Are you having fun decorating for Fall or Halloween?

Parties of the week.

Look Who Stopped by for Dinner

We have visitors.
I like them because they don't stay too long.
They don't eat a lot.
and
They don't take up too much room.

They brought a few little friends.

As you can see, they dressed for dinner.

You might have guessed, I am getting out some of my Halloween decorations.

I happened upon these two skeletons at Walmart.
I have been looking for large ones, but I did not want to pay the $ at the Halloween stores.
Well, I lucked out, both Walmart and Target are selling large skeletons for 1/2 the cost of those Halloween stores.
You may want to get yours asap, Target only had two on the shelf so I bought both of them.

How about you, are you doing any Halloween decorating this year?

New Whites in the Dinning Room

I finally finished my dinning room chairs.
It wasn't really a daunting project, well maybe in my mind only.

Four chairs to paint.
4 Times x 4 chairs.
Sand and stain.
Remove the 3 layers of upholstery.
Add a layer of cotton batting.
Reupholster in simple white fabric.
Sew four seat slipcovers.

It sound like a lot, but really, each chair only took 2 days to paint.
One day to reupholster all of the chairs.
One day to make several of the slipcovers.

All in all, I think I finished the whole project within 2 weeks with lots of swimming breaks in between.

The best part is that I had to purchase nothing.
The chairs came free from one of my cosigners at my old shop.
I used fabric I already had, a cheap lightweight cotton denim from Walmart.
The paint was some I had used on some of my interior walls.
First, two coats of flat paint, a coat of Annie Sloan Old White and the top coat was semi-gloss.

You may be wondering why I painted the semi-gloss over the Annie Sloan.
The first chair I tried to like the chair before the semi-gloss, but I did not like just plain waxing.
I used my go to method of using semi-gloss and either let life (meaning 3 children) distress a piece of furniture or sand and stain the furniture.

Simple ruffled slipcover.

Look at those legs!

Ballarina ties on the back.

I like the look with the full slipcovered parson chairs, my newly slipcovered white chairs and the vintage farm chairs.

Now, if only I could do something about that table!
How about you?
Have you finished any projects lately?

I am sharing my white chairs with Kathleen from Faded Charm for White Wednesday.

End of Summer Flowers

My gardens did not do as well this year.
Mostly my fault but I will blame it on Mother Nature.

Rain, rain where did you go?

I did manage to grow some beautiful flowers in spite of the lack of attention by me.

Beautiful pink roses about to drop their petals.

Gathered together in one bunch the colors are spectacular.

I have several of these beautiful climbing roses planted by my arbors.

I love the color of the hydrangeas.
Pinks, purples, whites and greens.
Such a wonderful combination.

I hope you are having a wonderful Labor Day weekend.

A Day at the Flea Market

Twice during the summer there is a small flea market in a small town a few minutes from my home.
In fact, there was a time back then when my kids were small that I had a shop with my best friend in the same small square of the flea market.

I miss my shop and my friend.

Anyway, I still try to go.

BECAUSE

I always manage to find a treasure or two or three or more!

I love these vintage suitcases.
The vendor sold them together for a great price.
It helps when you know most of the vendors by name.
They know you know how much something is usually worth and how much they can charge.

and more!

I could not have found a more perfect chippy, white, distressed piece.
It was the first treasure I bought.
I am hoping it will fit in the kids bathroom as a vanity.

Beautiful ironstone double handled container.
Perfect for a plant.

A phone for Mr. M.
It works.
He says that he can never find a phone when he needs them.
What can I say, there are both good and bad aspects of cordless phones.

A great vintage black suitcase, just the right black for Halloween.

I love the worn look.

Even though the weather was perfect, there were not too many vendors.
I was happy though.
I even called Mr. M. to join me with the kids, they can handle a small flea.
You see, the little guy, he is just NOT a shopper!
I asked Mr. M. where he may have gotten that trait from.
Mmmmm...I know a certain husband who just rolls his eyes when I ask him to come shop with me.

Oh well, I enjoy my own company.
I can walk as fast or slow as I want.
I don't stop and look at things that don't interest me.

So do you take your Mr. flea marketing with you?
Does he like to go?
How about the kids?

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful day.

On My Mind

Yes it is the last week of summer vacation for the little ones.
There will be lots of celebrations next Tuesday at 8:31.

BUT

I have other things on my mind.
Most would think it is too early.
Many may think I am MAD!

I
Have
Thoughts
Of
HALLOWEEN
On
My
Mind.

Picture from last year's Halloween party.

I have already been searching the internet looking for new decorating ideas.

This year we are going to try to have both a children's and an adult Halloween party.
The kids are almost excited as I am.

BOO!
