Not an Irish Lass

I have been told there is a chance I may only have a wee bit of Irish in me.

You would never guess that.

GREEN is the 2nd most dominant color in my home.

Stripes
and
Diamonds

In Spring
there will
be green
every where.

Here is to the Irish in you.
Be it real
or
fake.

The New Laundry Room

Until we built the addition and added a laundry room.
Laundry was done in the basement.

Now it is in the master bedroom.

So far, it is a good start.

The vintage cabinet was in the basement waiting for the perfect spot.

I have been compiling pictures of how I wanted the room to look.

I am loving the stripes on the wall.
I am thinking of horizontal, but more like a grain sack inspired look in light blue.

I think I have some of my son's blue paint left over that will work perfectly.

There's that color again, but it is just paint and easy to cover if I change my mind.

This is basically how small the laundry room is.
I did not want it to be huge, wasted space to me.

I do plan on adding shelves on the side of the cabinet for plenty of storage for necessities.

I am still looking for a shelf and hooks for the side wall.
They can not protrude too much that we hit our heads.

I also plan to hang the vintage ironing board in the room too.

Wall words to inspire.

It does make it easier to do a quick load of wash while getting ready for work.
I simply fold on the bed and the kids come and get their piles to put away.

I love that the new laundry room is not all the way in the basement.
Although, we do miss the days when we could just open the basement door and toss the dirty laundry down.

Today it is not even 8:00 and 65 degrees already.
I am not thinking about laundry on such a beautiful day.

I hope Spring has arrived for you too!

New Hall Way

I thought I would show you what I have been doing besides get all those trees decorated for Christmas.

Our new hallway.

As part of the new addition we put up some new walls in our old bedroom to make a bedroom for my son and a new hallway to our new master bedroom.

Some of you may already know, I like to paint my walls.  A lot.

This door is the entrance to our new bedroom.
It was the door to my husbands closet until we busted through.
I must say it did surprise us.
We had one of those moments where you open up a wall and find a pipe.
We worked through it though.

This corner is new, these two walls were not here.
To the right is the entrance to my son's room.
He will tell you, HE LOVES HIS NEW ROOM!
He will give a tour after the new year.

This entrance was to our old bedroom.
We removed the door and widened the doorway.
The diamonds were already there, I just had to fix them after the renovation.

I went from diamond to horizontal stripes.
Downstairs we have vertical stripes.
While Mr. M. was out of town for work, the kids helped me draw the lines and I painted them.  He never knows what new thing he is going to come home to.

Entrance to new master bedroom and entrance to master bathroom.
For now we left the entrance to the old master bath room, we have another entrance from our new room.
We plan to either block the door or take it out altogether.
It's a privacy thing.

Old hallway diamonds leading to kids bedrooms.

And that is what keeps me busy these days.
I am looking forward to lots of painting and sewing in the new year.

I have to work today so I will show more Christmas pictures of the house later tonight.

Merry Christmas.

The Man Cave

The light at the end of the tunnel is getting brighter.

We have one layer of drywall on the walls of the garage (man cave).
It is a huge 4 car garage and we are doing the work ourselves.
The hardest part is the ceiling because they are almost 12 high.
We still have 44 more sheets to hang.
But.
We are half way done.

I have started thinking of what colors I am going to paint the garage.

Of course I am!

Don't worry though, I plan on asking Mr. M. what color he would like first.
Although he does threaten to use every color from the EXTRA selection I have in the basement. Ha ha.

Mr. M. is a huge FORD man.

I would love to paint him a sign on one of the walls.

In fact I love all of these signs.

Some artwork would look nice too.

I am thinking of a nice light grey with the Ford blue in a couple of vertical stripes.

colors found at Home Depot

He even said I can paint the floor if I do it with some nonslip paint.

I want to include some of Mr. M.'s fireman plaques and extra gear, along with old baseball jerseys too.
I want him to know how much we appreciate and love him for all that he does for us.
This is where he is king.
As long as I get to use his tools too.

He has also been on the look out for an old Ford truck for us to work on together.
For the future, for when the house is done.

We both have the ability to see great potential in old beat up things.
And we know that paint can really make a difference.

The sooner we can get the garage done, then we can move up to the master bedroom.
Busy, busy, busy.

And how about you?
How is your summer going?
