Tree House Progress

Work has finally begun on the tree house.
It may not be the one I had planned in my head.

To see my original post about the tree house go here.
The kids are excited.
I am excited.

They have all helped in one way or another.

The tree house is bigger than I was going to go with,
but Mr. M. got involved.
He would rather go big than have to cut and waste.
The decks are very sturdy, built to handle a bunch of kids.

The lower deck is 10 x 12.

This is the view of the back yard from the lower deck.
We had to trim some tree branches.

The upper deck is 12 x 12.
Mr. M. was out til 8:00 last night nailing in the last deck board.
As you can see there is plenty of space between each deck.
We wanted to make sure there was plenty of head room.
My 12 year old has surpassed me in height,
there seems no end to his growing.

This is the view from the upper deck.
You can see into the fields, on the left in that patch of weeds is the kids pond.

You can also see into the trees from the other sides of the deck.
The tree house is tucked into the treetops hidden.

This weekend we will be making the playhouse at the top.
Railings for the sides.

I am hoping to incorporate a slide,

Now I just have to find the perfect little tree to decorate for Christmas.
What?
Did you think otherwise?
My daughter put it perfectly, it is just another room!

New Garden

Maximizing my time.
This week I am back to my normal work week leaving me with two days off.
I was finally able to fix the fire pit and plant the new garden.

This is the path to the fire pit.

It was originally red sand left over from a pool installation.
I hated the sand, it stained everything.
Today we will finish the far right corner and put the chairs back.

As for the kids having a place to play in the sand.
I think I have talked Mr. M. into building a sand box, seeing as that tree house has still not been built.

I washed the stones last night.
They look and feel like the pebbles from Olcott Beach.
I am glad I choose to go with the larger stone.

The left side of the garden was just planted last year.
Each year I will add a few plants until it looks like a full lush English garden.
No room for weeds.

This is the start of the new garden.
I have two flowering ornamental pear trees.
A Thuja Green Giant tree.
Two Limelight hydrangea bushes.
Several blue berry bushes.  That the birds have already discovered.
A Catmint plant.
 Some creeping phlox.
Boxwood bushes.
A pink rose bush.
Lavender.
Delphinium.
Foxglove.

One of my ROCKS.

I left plenty of room to add 6 of my arborvitae bushes that are in planters for the summer.
After two years of being in planters they are a nice size for my gardens.
Next year I will go with boxwood bushes in my planters.

I took these pictures in the morning so I wouldn't have the blaring sun, only problem, fog.
Oh well.
At least my garden is planted and I can enjoy our 4th of July party/birthday party.

Thanks for stopping by.
I hope everyone has a wonderful July 4th.

Spring Has Arrived at Arbor House Lane

Spring is here at Arbor House Lane!

The little shed is just waiting to be cleaned out and made pretty for Summer.

We know Spring is officially here when the Thunder Cloud Plum trees are in bloom.
Their sweet smelling pink flowers do not last long, but they sure put on a show.

We are thinking of adding a row of pink Crab-apple trees along the driveway in the front this year.
That way when the Thunder Clouds are done flowering it will be time for the Crab-apples to bloom.

It smells wonderful when you walk outside.
All of the fruit trees in the back yard are in bloom too.

I am off to do some plant shopping.
Hot pink is the theme this year.

Maybe this chair has something to with it.

The chair is finished and it has become a favorite spot for my daughter's reading time.
I will share her room when we get finished hanging everything back on the walls.

How about you, has Spring arrived?
Have you chosen your flowers yet?

Happy Spring!
