Christmas in the Dining Room

Let's peek into the dining room.

I have it all set and ready for dinner.

The stockings are hung from the mantel, no fireplace in site.

Silver is the main color in this room.

I have added a little aqua to the tree for some extra color.
There are a few wrapped presents under the tree.
I caught my youngest son checking out the presents.
I told him it was OK to look, but not to open.

There are small and medium disco balls hanging from the chandelier.
The room looks almost like it is snowing inside when the sun shines in.
Little lights everywhere.

A simple center piece for the dining room table.

The kids love to eat dinner by Christmas tree light.

I had to move one of my slip covered wing back chairs in here from the living room,
to make room for the tree.

School will be finished this week and I can get some of my extra time back.
I can't wait to relax next week and spend time with the family.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful time getting ready for Christmas.
I know I am.

Christmas Past

I am in the forest of Christmas trees right now.

While I am getting the house all ready for Christmas I thought I would share some pictures of Christmas past.

The living room tree.
My favorite.

Each year I buy an ornament for the kids.
They always seem to find a spot, although I think it is pretty full.

This is the last tree to go up, we are waiting for Mr. M. to come home.
Our tradition is to put in the movie National Lampoon's Christmas vacation, get out the eggnog and put the tree together.
I add several strands of lights.
The boxes of ornaments are brought in for the kids to help decorate.
It usually is an all day process, we relax and enjoy the day.
Sometimes my sister stops by to put up a few ornaments and enjoy dinner and a movie with us.

Sometimes I like to look at pictures of Christmas past to see if I liked how it looked or to make changes.
If I recall, the greenery had to be moved from the chandelier, we had a few needles get to close to the bulbs.

The dinning room tree is up and partially decorated.
I am still trying to work the blue in.

This picture was taken just before our Christmas Eve dinner.
Look at all the cookies on the side table.

The kitchen tree is done.
The poor thing is loosing all of it's needles.
I think this may be the last year, the tree in the picture above looks fuller than it is now.

I really do like the look of white and green.
Probably my favorite combination.

The office tree.
I have it up, but I can't seem to find the ornaments.
Hopefully they are mixed in with the living room ornament box.

This is usually how the house looks by the time I am done decorating all the trees.
The house always looks so pretty at night with a fresh snow fall.

It's All About The Trees

Yes, I may have started decorating for Christmas.
Thanksgiving is being celebrated at my father's house.

So,
I may have a tree
or two
 or three
 maybe more
that have started getting the Christmas treement.

The kids
 may have
helped me get all twenty something storage buckets out of the attic.

may have
picked a new color for the dinning room tree or my master tree.

May smay.

Dang straight I have.

Here is a peak at my trees in progress.

This is the tree in the new master bedroom.
I am trying out different colors and have not yet chosen a final look.

A few pieces on the mantel and two enhanced stockings are hung.
I brought one of my slipcovered chairs up from the basement.

Here is the tree at the end of the day.
I am leaning toward cream and gold.
The blue is there because I am trying turquoise, but I don't think it will stay.

Maybe it will look better in the dinning room.
I have started working on that tree too.

See there's the blue again.
I am still trying.

And the basement tree.

This tree is done in mostly gold and vintage except for the Santas I made and a few I found last year at Kohls.

I did borrow some to use for my bed room tree.

This is the room where the kids retreat to watch cartoons or a movie.
You didn't think I would forget the basement did you?

And you?
Hows your decorations going?
Are you a wait until after Thanksgiving or have you started now?

Merry Christmas

I guess it is a really good thing I asked Santa for a camera this year.

My camera is broke.
I can't get the zoom to work.
Nothing is in focus.

Here are some pictures I managed to salvage.

This snowy picture is from Friday.
Arbor House lane all covered in snow.
We were all happy to see snow on the grown.
It makes it feel so much more like Christmas.

I was able to upload some of the pictures that turned out ok.
This is the new tree in the basement.
I decorated it in golds.
Normally I would say I am not a gold person but I really like it.

The dinning room is all ready for guests to arrive.

My favorite snow angels hanging in the hallway.

The living room Christmas tree seen through a mirror in the room.

The mantel in the kitchen.
My white amaryllis is almost in full bloom.

An urn filled with silver and white ornaments on the kitchen island.

Christmas in the kitchen.
All of my lights are on timers and the trees are lit up each morning as I come downstairs.
This is what I am greeted with as I get ready for each day as I make my morning coffee.

Thank goodness Santa said I might be able to open a certain Christmas present early.
I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas, me, I have to work today, but I am thankful for a wonderful husband who can stay home with the kids and get our home ready for Christmas Eve guests.

Merry Christmas to all!

Christmas in the Dinning Room

Dinner by Christmas tree light.

Now that the living room furniture is out of the dinning room we can get back to our nightly dinners in the dinning room.  I have found a solution for the messy kitchen table filled with homework yet to be done.

You see, each night we would have the battle of having the kids clear the kitchen table so we could eat dinner.  Then after dinner they would have to get all the homework out again to finish.
Homework takes a couple of hours in this house.
I can't send them to their rooms to work at their desks, because I am no fool, the work would not get done!

I do split them up to do their reading, one in the study, one in the living room and one in the basement.
The majority of the homework needs help by mom or dad.

While dinner is being made we read off spelling words or explain a math or grammar problem.
By eating in the dinning room the kids do not have to clean up the kitchen table until the work is done.
This makes life much easier and I am all for the EASIER in life!

The kids really like eating in the dinning room, it makes them feel more special.
I must admit, it makes it so I have to keep the room clutter free.

This weekend I hope to have all the decorating done so we can concentrate on Christmas cookies.
I hope of you are enjoying the Holiday season.

Oh, and Santa, if you are reading this,
I could really use that Canon Powershot SX-500, it would help with my blurry pictures.
Just saying it is on my Christmas wish list.
