It's Been A Long Time

It is done.
FINALLY!

I did get a few things done since you last heard from me.
Christmas passed by, Valentines and almost Spring.  I will wait until next year to share the ton of pictures from this past Christmas.

Working full time, going to school, being a mom and wife means there is less time devoted to being creative.  The need is still present, only time and energy are lacking. I enjoyed spending time on the computer being inspired by some many great bloggers.

Finally after months of looking at the unfinished settee in my bedroom.

This is what it looked like when I found my treasure at Sally.  Good bones, ugly fabric.  It wasn't until I took the old fabric off that I had to figure out how to put the new one on.  This was a bigger project than I have tackled in the past.

The legs have such great detail.

First I painted it. White of course!

Same details but I like the color better.

I used two different fabrics. The plain white is just a simple cotton duck that I used for all the piping and cushion edging and bottom, back and seating areas.
The decorative fabric is a matelasse.

Since this was my first settee and I have never upholstered a piece of furniture so large, I will give myself a break.  There are some areas I wish I had done better on, but, overall I am happy with how it turned out.

One of my favorite parts of upholstering this piece is the double welting.
It did a lot to hide some mistakes and it was easy to apply.  I would definitely
 use it again.

The design is beautiful and it was hard making that first cut in the bedspread.

I have since moved the settee from my master bedroom to the office.
It is a nice place for the kids to read and watch movies on the computer.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend.

It has been awhile since I posted so I thought I would do a little partying too!

Randomness After A LONG Break

Spring at Arbor House Lane.
Randomness around the house.

It has been a LONG time.
I have been here, just in the background.

Hydrangeas left over from Mother's Day.
I love the purple with the white in the mudroom.

I switched out the aqua cabinet in the mud room for the white one.
I am not sure if it will stay all summer.

I have been craving some color.
That usually happens after a
LONG WINTER!

As you can see, I still have some Easter to put away.

I am so ready to move from house gardens to yards gardens.
The weeds are multiplying.

Sunlight shinning in the living room.

The dinning room is always ready for dinner guests.

Our master bed room.

Have a wonderful weekend and thanks for stopping by.

Let There Be LIGHT!

We finally have lights in the addition, both garage and master bedroom.
Or, maybe I should say working lights.

I can not even describe how excited I was when those lights went on.
I even yelled when they turned on.
I think I drove our electrician crazy because I kept turning the lights on and off.
I told him that we were going to go to bed with them on.
The only thing I have left to do is install the dimmer switches.
Five chandeliers does give off a lot of light.
I think my favorite lights might be the ones over the fireplace.
When I get home from work I turn them on for the night.

They just sparkle!

The garage is all lit up too.

We have great task lighting for those projects that need to get done.

I ordered 5 of these from Wayfair.
Love the vintage look and not the cost.

These outside lights are my favorite.
We found them at Home Depot.
I wish they had matching hanging lights for the deck.

New sensor lights, now our guests won't trip over the bushes.
We reused the side lights from before the addition.

Mr. M. and I are over the moon happy with how the addition of the garage and master bedroom are turning out.

This weekend we finish up putting the trim in the mudroom.
Then let the painting begin.

Thanks for stopping by.

New Hall Way

I thought I would show you what I have been doing besides get all those trees decorated for Christmas.

Our new hallway.

As part of the new addition we put up some new walls in our old bedroom to make a bedroom for my son and a new hallway to our new master bedroom.

Some of you may already know, I like to paint my walls.  A lot.

This door is the entrance to our new bedroom.
It was the door to my husbands closet until we busted through.
I must say it did surprise us.
We had one of those moments where you open up a wall and find a pipe.
We worked through it though.

This corner is new, these two walls were not here.
To the right is the entrance to my son's room.
He will tell you, HE LOVES HIS NEW ROOM!
He will give a tour after the new year.

This entrance was to our old bedroom.
We removed the door and widened the doorway.
The diamonds were already there, I just had to fix them after the renovation.

I went from diamond to horizontal stripes.
Downstairs we have vertical stripes.
While Mr. M. was out of town for work, the kids helped me draw the lines and I painted them.  He never knows what new thing he is going to come home to.

Entrance to new master bedroom and entrance to master bathroom.
For now we left the entrance to the old master bath room, we have another entrance from our new room.
We plan to either block the door or take it out altogether.
It's a privacy thing.

Old hallway diamonds leading to kids bedrooms.

And that is what keeps me busy these days.
I am looking forward to lots of painting and sewing in the new year.

I have to work today so I will show more Christmas pictures of the house later tonight.

Merry Christmas.

Silver and Gold, Or Rather Just Gold

I added a few more Christmas touches in the new master bedroom.
I took out the blue, now there is just gold and white.

This how it looks at night with Christmas tree lights.

This is how it looks during the day.

I added a table to the middle of the room.  It is the top of an oak table and the base is painted iron.

The deer and large ornaments are from Home Goods, favorite store!

This is the back wall of the bedroom.
I love the vintage shutter with greens.

Some more gold.

The gold beaded garland I picked up today at the Flower Barn, and the large gold pine cone is from Bon Ton.

I just love how this room is turning out.

I love walking into our room at night after work and seeing all the window lights and the Christmas tree lit up.

Thanks for stopping by.
I am almost finished decorating the house and I will share this weekend.

I parting with Common Ground

I hope you will stop by and join the party.

Suprise For My Sweetheart

Mr. M. is coming home today.
I missed him.
I always do when he is gone.

I have a surpise for him when he gets home.

My sister came over and helped me move some furniture.
She is awesome like that.

This is what he will see when he gets home today.
He has no idea I snuck some furniture in.

This is how it looks today.

This is a picture from the night before.

To fall asleep by tree light is always the best.

We were able to assemble and hang the second chandelier.
I love how it matches the sconces.
This chandelier also looks a lot like other chandeliers we have in the rest of the house.

It hangs above our bed.

I am so excited this room is coming together.
