Let There Be LIGHT!

We finally have lights in the addition, both garage and master bedroom.
Or, maybe I should say working lights.

I can not even describe how excited I was when those lights went on.
I even yelled when they turned on.
I think I drove our electrician crazy because I kept turning the lights on and off.
I told him that we were going to go to bed with them on.
The only thing I have left to do is install the dimmer switches.
Five chandeliers does give off a lot of light.
I think my favorite lights might be the ones over the fireplace.
When I get home from work I turn them on for the night.

They just sparkle!

The garage is all lit up too.

We have great task lighting for those projects that need to get done.

I ordered 5 of these from Wayfair.
Love the vintage look and not the cost.

These outside lights are my favorite.
We found them at Home Depot.
I wish they had matching hanging lights for the deck.

New sensor lights, now our guests won't trip over the bushes.
We reused the side lights from before the addition.

Mr. M. and I are over the moon happy with how the addition of the garage and master bedroom are turning out.

This weekend we finish up putting the trim in the mudroom.
Then let the painting begin.

Thanks for stopping by.

Suprise For My Sweetheart

Mr. M. is coming home today.
I missed him.
I always do when he is gone.

I have a surpise for him when he gets home.

My sister came over and helped me move some furniture.
She is awesome like that.

This is what he will see when he gets home today.
He has no idea I snuck some furniture in.

This is how it looks today.

This is a picture from the night before.

To fall asleep by tree light is always the best.

We were able to assemble and hang the second chandelier.
I love how it matches the sconces.
This chandelier also looks a lot like other chandeliers we have in the rest of the house.

It hangs above our bed.

I am so excited this room is coming together.

Bling In The New Master Bedroom

We are starting to hang the lighting.
So far one vintage chandelier and two sconces are up.

We have one new crystal chandelier to put together and some parts to buy for the vintage ones before they can be installed.

This chandelier is only missing one set of crystals.

Even though the sconces are new, I love how they look.

We started working on the closets too.
So far one side of shelving units is almost done in my closet.
How do you like my lighting on the floor?
You do what you have to do.
Electricity is still being worked on.

Mr. M.'s closet.
Half done.
We made sure the Lazy boy fit.

Today we are visiting Home Depot for door and window trim.
It is hard to match trim from 15 years ago when we built the house.
So far we have been able to locate most of it still being made in Canada.

Maybe when it is ready for pickup I can talk Mr. M. into a trip to Ikea.

I am getting impatient to move into the room.
It is so close but so far.

Oh, I also have a mini forest going on in the kitchen, Christmas trees are being dressed with lights.

And you, are you getting ready yet?.
I hope you are having a wonderful week.

Dreamy Lighting

Romantic lighting!

Currey & Company 9008 5 Light Paramour Chandelier, Smoke Gold

We are so close to the next step towards finishing our new master bedroom.

We finished putting in the electrical boxes for the lights this week.
I of course changed my mind several times.
I tried to visualize how they would look when the room is done.
The final one we were trying to center over where we will put the bed.
Mr. M. says he does not want a light over the bed, said he does not like the one we currently have over our bed now.

I batted my eyes at him and said "what if it is a romantic crystal chandelier?"
He rolled his eyes and moved the box.

He knows I have been thinking about all of it.

The colors.
The mantel.
The floor.
The drapes.
The furniture.

All of it.

Right now I am concentrating on the lighting.
And, there are a lot of them.

13

Good thing I am not superstitious.
Five of them you will not see, they are in closets and the laundry room.
I may not attach a light to the fan in the middle of the room.
That leaves us with.

7

I do not want them to all match.
I do not want them to clash either.

I am thinking of having them all have crystals.

Different heights.

Different styles.

Some elegant.

Some simple.

So what do you think?
Will they all work together in one room?
It is a large room.

Oh My Gaping Hole

Some of you may remember that I have been looking for a chandelier to replace the one I posted about here.

I had been looking for a vintage one in the antique shops, but no luck.
Mr. M. has been looking at the gaping hole and is ready to just put up whatever he has handy.
NO, no, no!

So, I am in a hurry in my quest for a new chandelier.
I would like something vintage with crystals and it can not be too big or it will get hit every time someone opens the front door.

I have been trolling around eBay, but anything that is good is way too expensive.  I spent many hours scouring the Internet for a new chandelier because my local search has me coming up empty handed.
Last week I finally decided on French empire style. The last step was to find the perfect one for a great price..........yeah that may take a little while.

Remember how I said I tend to follow my inner shopper, who tells me to go down certain roads even when I am supposed to be picking Mr. M. up to take him out to lunch and now I will be late.

Yeah, well my inner shopper won and I am Happy dancing tonight!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just about fell on the floor when I saw it, just sitting in a chair with some of the crystals laying next to it.
Even though there was no one else in the store, I promptly picked it up and carried it to the front.
So, I asked, does it work?
Yes, and she had some more of the crystals behind the counter.

I'LL TAKE IT!

As soon as I got home I took all of the crystals off and washed them, there were a heck of a lot.

Then I tried washing as much of the glass on the chandelier, did I mention that it was ALREADY rewired.
As my son would say SWEET!

Look at that crystal.
I may actually have an actual antique in my home.

I showed Mr. M. as soon as he got home.
There was much eye rolling when I asked if he could hang it.
NOW?

Well, yeah, oh and I kind of want to take the chandelier from the living room and hang that one in the hall and put the pretty new one in the living room.

Can we, please, pretty please.
More eye rolling and he needed a nap.
NOW?

Buggers.

I tried to be patient.
Made the kids dinner.
I would like to say that I tried to keep the kids quiet so they wouldn't wake dad up, but that would be LYING!

Oh, you're up, did you have a nice nap?
Are you hungry?
Can we hang the chandelier?

Then I got the; WOMAN YOU ARE DRIVING ME CRAZY look.

But, then he said, I'm going to need a ladder.
YES!

Of course there were some choice words because, man was that chandelier heavy.
Too heavy to go into the living room.  Oh well, one less step to do.

TA DA!

Isn't it just beautiful.
I am so happy that I waited this long.
See, everything happens for a reason!

The best part, it cost less than what I would have had to pay to fix the one that broke.
Gotta love that!
